  • Who was the most important Ute Chief, and why?

Ouray was the most important Ute Indian Chief.  He was fluent in several Native American dialects, Spanish, and English, and the first to establish diplomatic relations with the US Government.  The Uintah-Ouray reservation in Utah was named after him.
